Series: Decorating 101 This series will teach you the basics of great design for your vacation rental, in case you'd like to try your hand at it. There will be 5+ info-filled, no-fluff posts. Here are the first 2 you can click and read. . . *Step 1: Where to Start *Step 2: How to Choose Colors Arranging furniture in a room is Step 3. Arranging Furniture can be HARD (to state the obvious), but I'm here to Make it EASY Let's get right down to it. . . the major rule of thumb is start by placing the main piece of furniture, then work out from there. (Is that bold enough? :-) In a BEDROOM: Place the head of the bed against the wall opposite the door. In a LIVING/FAMILY ROOM: Place the sofa facing the TV and/or the room's focal point--the focal point is often a fireplace or picture window. In the DINING ROOM, put the table and chairs in the middle of the room. Remember the Rule: start by placing the main piece of furniture, then work out from there This rule of thumb works most of the time, but not always. But arranging furniture can be fun! With it, you can get a room to look completely new. However, if you're not sure, or don't want to deal with it, simply click below--we make whole decorating process quick, easy on you, and profitable for your unit! Warmly,

Series: Decorating 101This series will teach you the basics of great design for your vacation rental, in case you'd like to try your hand at it. There will be 5+ info-filled, no-fluff posts. Picking colors is what I recommend for Step 2. (Step 1 is figuring out your Style Statement--just click here to read that post.) Pick 3 Colors from the ROY G BIV RainbowI can hear you now: "There are THOUSANDS of colors! How do I choose JUST 3??" Answer: with an INSPIRATION PIECE. THIS IS STEP 1. This is an item with 3+ colors of the rainbow that will go in your space. It's often a textile--wall art, a pillow, or a colorful rug. Then, choose 3 specific colors; THIS IS STEP 2. for any colored items you add into the room, make sure the colors are only those 3. Case Study, aka, How to Apply ItLet's look at a well-designed, colorful room, and see how the colors came to be. . . Do you see an item with 3+ rainbow colors in this room? If you said the red floral pillows, you'd be correct. Those are the Inspiration Piece(s) for this room! From the Inspiration Piece, the designer chose the specific colors of deep blue, tomato red, and orange. See those colors repeated in the art, pillows, decorative throw blanket at the end of the bed, and flowers on the nightstands. Note the specific colors. Baby blue wasn't used, deep blue was. Burgundy red wasn't used, tomato red was. Keep your colors specific. So, THIS IS STEP 3: sprinkle those colors throughout your space. Easy, Right?!It really is. Still, if you're not sure, or don't want to deal with it, or just want another set of eyes on your unit, please give me a call--I'd loooove to help you out, and I do it fast! Great decor = more profitable STR's!!
